Hello! My name is Tiana Birrell and I am an artist specializing in abstracted landscapes.

I am from Berkshire County, MA and currently live in Logan, UT where my nearest neighbor is a llama named CJ. I spend most of my days making art and eating candy while gaining inspiration from the landscapes that surround me. Most people know me as a multi-media artist who works in photography, performance, video, and installation art. So, I decided to start this website and Instagram, Art Above Your Couch, so I would have a place to document and showcase the artwork I make that could look good above your couch.

For the last decade, my work has taken more of a research approach and I use art to investigate issues around water usage in arid climates, displacement and the nuanced relationships between humans and non-humans…but those might look out of place above your couch. This page is dedicated to my abstracted landscape paintings, which are embodiments of the feelings I have while being in nature. I hope that they make you feel the wonder and delight of being outside while laying on your couch!
